Raise Hope Give it Forward Program Launch
Give it Forward – Feed 10,000 families
Last Thursday, we launched our Give it Forward Campaign through our nonprofit initiative Raise Hope. For this project, we’ve created wonderful partnerships with Turner Broadcasting’s Insider’s Advantage employee program and Boston Market.
This holiday season,Turner Employees have the opportunity to buy a discounted gift card and Give it Forward to a family in need.
The holidays are a time we often take for granted. The shopping, the traveling, and the many family gatherings – while most of us love the holidays they often bring much stress. We sometimes overlook the importance of quality family time and the privilege it is to see our loved ones. The holidays are also a stressful time for many women and children in homeless and domestic violence shelters. The holidays bring reminders of lives destroyed, dreams broken and, sometimes, family lost.
For our Give it Forward initiative, we have vetted and contacted shelters all across the country, in cities that have a Turner broadcasting presence, and identified ways that we can get these women and children gift cards for a meal out at a nearby Boston Market store. The shelters are thrilled; they know how important a sense of normalcy is for these families.
This initiative is really about so much more than a meal, it’s about giving families the gifts that we take for granted – the gift of quality time, the gift of a nutritious meal, the gift of normalcy, the gift of dignity. We have the ability to Feed 10,000 Families, and that’s huge.
As of last Friday, we’ve sold 20 meals. 20 out of 10,000 doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is. 20 families are going to get to eat for Thanksgiving or Christmas, 20 families are going to get to travel outside of the shelter, and 20 families are going to feel normal, appreciated, respected, and loved. That’s enough for us.
